
Larenz Tate – Actor Entrepreneur, and Producer
Larenz Tate is culture’s icon. The Chicago-born actor landed on television screens in 1985 in the sci-fi series The Twilight Zone and has captured the hearts of audiences across the globe. Currently, Tate stars as Congressman Tate in Starz’s number one drama series Power Book II: Ghost. Tate first entered the Power universe in Power Season 4 making his entry into the Power universe as Councilman Rashad Tate, a run-and-gun politician that would do anything for power and success publicly and privately. Power Book II: Ghost will return for a third season.
On the big screen, Tate has starred in several beloved films that have forever transformed cinema. The Chicago native has starred in Allen and Albert Hughes’ classic films MENACE II SOCIETY and DEAD PRESIDENTS. Both iconic films illustrated the reality of Black men growing up in South Central Los Angeles amid a rise in drugs and gang violence permeating the streets. O-Dog is one of the most celebrated and intimate heroines within Black cinema. In 1997, Tate starred in the cult-classic film LOVE JONES alongside Nia Long. The film would go on to be one of the most celebrated Black films of all time. Tate also starred in THE INKWELL, WHY DO FOOLS FALL IN LOVE (produced by Paul Hall), A MAN APART, WAIST DEEP, DEUCES, RAY, as well as the three-time ACADEMY AWARD® winning film CRASH. Tate returned to the big screen in 2017 to join Malcolm Lee’s blockbuster comedy film GIRLS TRIP. His television credits also include, House of Lies, Rush, Rescue Me, and Game of Silence.
Always purpose-driven and with a legacy mindset, the “Power” star created TateMen Entertainment with brothers LaRon and Lahmard Tate, who are also both actors. Collectively TateMen develops projects across multiple genres, platforms, and entertainment mediums. TateMen Entertainment produced and launched Bronzeville, a scripted podcast that chronicled the lives of players in the lottery games while illuminating the self-sustainability of the community’s African-American residents.The podcast series has over 20 million downloads to date and counting. Over the years, Tate has remained steadfast in his desire to be a vessel for aspiring filmmakers, writers and directors and championing Black storytelling.
